DAYS OF MILES AND CORN!

August 5-6-7, was the mid-summer weekend where most of our cyclists are managing with ease and fun longer and more challenging rides. This is the time of the year where borders of flowers are in full bloom, fruit trees and garden are starting to reveal the size of their crop. August is that month of the year favoured by most outdoor enthusiasts for the abundance it offers, abundance of sunshine, of good trails to explore, of energy and stamina. Mainly due to the warmer waters circling the island, August is just the beginning of a wonderful time.

DELIGHTFUL FEVER !

As we are less than 10 days before the start of our longest tour ever organized by your club, Velo Cape Breton, fever is building up among the 35 participants. Even for the most experienced tourers, there are always these moments in the days previous to the start where one's mind is picturing the nice photos found in the published guides, mentally reviewing the lists of things to bring, anticipating happy moments with friends and what not.

Improper planning is hindrance to success. There is no money that can buy you that great feeling of accomplishment resulting from good preparation and planning.

VCB Special #1 - This Week in the Fast Lane

THIS WEEK IN THE FAST LANE

First week of summer and tourists are invading the Island in drove to the satisfaction of the local tourist operators. For many VCB members, this first week of July is the start of the annual holidays, the beginning of a less stressful lifestyle with kids out of school and no deadlines to meet. It's summer!

TUESDAY - INVERNESS CHAPTER

The Inverness Chapter under the leadership of Alec MacNeil and Geraldine Beaton has been inaugurated this past weekend with three great rides. The first one, a 70 km road ride around the quiet Lake Ainslie on Canada Day. The second one is the memorable 70 km mountain bike ride in the Highlands of Cape Mabou, down to the head of MacKinnon Brook trail and back to Mabou and then Inverness by the abandonned rail line. On Monday, the ride to Sight Point along the rugged heights of the south coast of the Gulf of St. Lawrence with a visit to the unique Magic Cove proved to be an unexpected challenging 40km. What a great way to discover Inverness and the friendship of the local riders.
