Image1 Velo Cape Breton is a non-profit, volunteer-run society open to all individuals who want to:

  • ride their bicycle in safety,
  • team-up with people at their level of fitness,
  • meet people who share the same “passion”,
  • support VCB’s bicycle advocacy and lobbying for a Bicycle Friendly Supportive Environment on Cape Breton Island.

Riding Membership gives access to all Scheduled Club Activities, Instruction, Rides & Events; subscription to VCB weekly eNewsletter; includes insurance (CGL, AD&D),
Choose to ride with the group that suits your fitness and skills levels.* of your choice. Right to vote.

*The “Touring Group” is for the non competitive rider. It is divided in three sections:

  1. CasualTouring for the occasional relaxed rider;
  2. Touring for the Novice relaxed rider; and
  3. Advanced Touring for the more experienced relaxed rider.

*The “Sportif Group” is for the more physical and technical rider.

Main Annual Events

Winter Socials, Clinics &Workshops
Spring Cycling Season’s Opening Banquet, early season shorter rides, Instruction Sessions on Safe Road Cycling, Victoria Day Bike Fest.
Summer Evening rides, weekends/weeklong tours & challenges:
i.e. Cabot Trail, Century Rides, Social events, Across Highlands
Challenge, Annual Northside AC-8 Fall Off-highway casual rides; Celtic
Colours Festival Bike Rides; Socials

Safety Helmets are mandatory for everyone. Bright colours and reflective clothing are recommended for all rides. Each rider is expected to be self-sufficient, use bicycles in proper mechanical order, carry a patch kit, spare tube, pump and identification.
